Apocalyptic Romance.

This one first same into being in 1976 or 77.

The idea sat, waiting to be fleshed out for years and years. Back then there wasn't any use even trying to flesh out a story that had a interracial romance.

Some background is in order. Alaska came into the union as a Democratic state. Along came the Alaska pipeline. Many of those men, and they were mostly men, who came up to work on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline were from the oil patches of Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. The majority of those men had conservative leanings.

The state quite quickly went from liberal to conservative. At the time, we lived out rural Alaska, in the Copper River Basin. We hippies, recently relocated from California had no idea that the area was one of the last bastions of the John Birch Society.

We persevered and got a grudging respect after we came through our first winter. At -30 degrees, it proved to be a real test of the chechakos. We made that winter and a few more as well.

Then when one gentleman wanted to start a newspaper, a coop enterprise, we pitched in. Before getting involved in the paper, my poetry had morphed into something bigger. I wrote my first full length novel in the loft of the old cabin, it was warmer up there, over a winter.

Other plot bunnies hopped across my trail and this was one. Fast forward a couple of decades and here it is.

It's steamy and has a message. Here are a few reviews. And right now it's on sale, half price at $1.99. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073Q97HWC
