What I'm Reading

Criminal Intent .9MM Truth on a Stick by S.P. Gallatin

This is one very wild ride. Be sure to keep it away from underage kids. Rigged elections, Aliens, parallel worlds and one man trying desperately to escape from the clutches of a crime boss who is everyone's worst nightmare.

Dime by Luis Figueredo

Found this one on NetGalley. Excellent book.

Vortexes by Holly Barbo

If you haven't read this one, you have missed a really good book. This is a dystopian thriller that will have you up past your bedtime.

Oath of Allegiance Jana Petken

Jana has finally put out the sequel. I've been looking forward to this one. It's in my to be read pile.

Darkspire Reaches by C.N. Lesley

Fantasy at it's best. If you haven't looked at this book, now is the time. Magic and dragons, nothing could be better. And the last dragon is searching for something, or rather someone. The plot is great and characters fleshed out well. Great tale.

 Sam's Song by Hannah Howe

Like a good mystery? Then check out the series about Welsh Inquiry Agent, Sam Smith. The plots are imaginative and Samantha Smith is a hot mess of conflicting emotions. But she knows how to investigate. Great series.

Trial Run by Ella Medler

In the mood for something funny and steamy? Then this is one for you.  The characters are believable, a riot of laughs and stuck right in the middle of a sticky situation. Their trial run ends in a way neither of them could have ever guessed. Ms. Medler has a wicked sense of humor and it comes through beautifully.

Swearing Allegiance (The Carmody Saga Book 1) By Jana Petken.

This has the makings of a great series. Jana Petken is a fantastic writer and this is an amazing book. Set in both Ireland and England, it is the tale of a family devistated first by the Easter Rising in Ireland and then by events of WWI. The family is in for a rude awakening when events conspire to throw the family into war torn Greenwich. I'll not go futher. It's one of those books that is sure to be a classic. Get this one.

Sunstone by Holly Barbo

The steam-powered civilization of Myrn is a thriving adolescent culture. But the rapid industrial development has given rise to greed, and the triumvirate of government, banks and industry leaders has lost sight of those it is supposed to serve and protect.

When a mysterious incurable illness sweeps through the impoverished masses, increasing the suffering to breaking point, rebellion seems unavoidable. Society is on the brink of revolution, and the planet is marked for destruction.

M'nacht, his son Kes, and his team of researchers investigate a legend about three sacred fossils that could save the people and rebalance Myrn. However, they are not the only ones looking. Where they see salvation, others see power, wealth and control.

Will the gifts from the goddess Navora be found in time to save their world, or will the sacrifice of innocents be lost under the weight of human depravity and corruption?

This book is a well thought out and well done tale of consequences. There ia a moral in here that applies to the times we find ourselves in now. But it is entertaining. This is one book I would like to see as a movie. Get to know Holly Barbo and check out her Sage Seed series. Good stuff.

Old Town Nights (Blood and Company Book 1)

When Abby Lawrence shows a house to Ambrose Slater, she's unable to resist the sexy, enigmatic man--a powerful mortal with fangs. After she meets the vampire's quirky clan, her feelings for him become more conflicted. His brother's disastrous marriage to a regular woman further complicates matters for the couple. Ambrose and Abby face a heart-rending decision: To risk losing their love or to set each other free, despite the inescapable consequences...

Can a vampire baker and a spunky realtor make their relationship work? Or is their love affair doomed?

Linda Lee Willimas has crafted a series that is a cut above the other vampire stories. This one will have  you wondering if there are vampire's living among us. The plot and the characters are fresh and new. This series isn't a rehash of old stuff, but a new look at an old legend.
